Founded in 1820, Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ is the oldest formally recognized African American Congregational Church in the world — and one of New Haven, Connecticut's most beloved and historic faith communities.
We are a multicultural and progressive congregation rooted in the Black church tradition, committed to liberation, justice, and radical welcome. At Dixwell Avenue Congregational UCC, you don't just attend church — you belong to one. Whether you're searching for a Black church in New Haven, an affirming congregation near Yale University, or a historic faith community with deep roots in Connecticut's Dixwell neighborhood, we have been here — and we will be here for you.
Come worship with us.
