Founded in 1820, Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ is the oldest formally recognized African American Congregational Church in the world — and one of New Haven, Connecticut's most beloved and historic faith communities.


We are a multicultural and progressive congregation rooted in the Black church tradition, committed to liberation, justice, and radical welcome. At Dixwell Avenue Congregational UCC, you don't just attend church — you belong to one. Welcome from our Interim Pastor

It is a pleasure to have you visit our website. How good and pleasant it is for sisters, brothers and kindred to dwell together in unity. Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ is a community of faith that is committed to justice and making space for all people to experience God's love. We are constantly seeking to be the hands and feet of Jesus the Christ in a world who desperately needs it. 


I invite you to join us on Sunday mornings for a spirit-filled and encouraging worship service at 11:00 AM in person or streaming on YouTube. You may come as you are because you are already loved and worthy. I look forward to greeting you.
